Groningse Schoolvereniging (“GSV”) is overseen by Executive Director, Gerdien Wassenaar, who leads all three learning environments of GSV. International Primary School Groningen has its own Team Leader, Miffy Lawrence.

The leadership team is supported and held accountable by a supervisory board. The board (Raad van Toezicht - “RvT”) is formed of external advisors and parents from the school.

There are several types of meetings held throughout the year for oversight, decision-making, and parent involvement.

All  meetings and opportunities are communicated through the school newsletter. If you’d like to receive more information about participating in these gatherings, please contact IPSG’s Team Leader.

General Meeting of Members (Algemene Ledenvergadering - “ALV”)

This is an annual meeting organized by the GSV parent association. During the ALV, formal matters such as the budget, financial statements, election of board members, and use of parental contributions are discussed. The meeting is conducted in Dutch.

IPSG Parent Meeting in English

In recognition of the fact that the ALV is held in Dutch, a separate parent meeting is organized in English. This meeting is attended by the Executive Director and the IPSG Team Leader and is specifically designed for IPSG parents to discuss relevant matters in a more accessible setting.

Participation Council (medezeggenschapsraad - “MR”)

The MR is a representative body made up of school staff and parents. It focuses on broader school-wide issues such as the timing of the school day, holiday scheduling, and overall school functioning. IPSG has its own parent representative on this council.

Class Parent Meetings

At the start of the school year, teachers reach out to parents to encourage involvement in various class activities. These include helping with transportation to events, supporting sports days, assisting in the school gardens, participating in musicals and being informed about the IPSG Representative Committee. These meetings and opportunities are communicated through the school newsletter.

If you’d like to receive more information about participating in these gatherings, please contact IPSG’s Team Leader.
