A balanced and inclusive approach

At International Primary School Groningen, we offer a curriculum that combines academic excellence with global awareness, catering to our multinational student body. We utilize the English National Curriculum for literacy and numeracy, ensuring a strong foundation in these essential areas. Complementing this, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) guides our thematic and inquiry-based learning across other subjects, fostering creativity and critical thinking.

International Primary Curriculum

IPC is an internationally-recognized curriculum designed to make learning engaging, meaningful, and internationally-relevant. IPC is used across 90+ countries which serves pupils’ growth and development whether they remain in the Netherlands or move on to their next chapter.

IPC’s key features include:
  • Thematic approach: Subjects like science, history, geography, art, and technology are taught through integrated themes that connect learning to real-world experiences.

  • Learning goals: It focuses on three types of goals - academic, personal, and international - to support well-rounded development.

  • Global outlook: IPC encourages inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking, allowing pupils to make connections between what they learn and the world around them. IPC helps children understand and respect cultural diversity, preparing them to thrive in an interconnected world.
